How to save at Christmas

After many of us not being able to spend time with our loved ones last year, this Christmas will be extra special. But, it can be a really expensive time of year so here’s some ideas on how you can have a great time and not spend all your hard earned cash.

Set a spending limit

Decide on a spending limit with family. You could even do a family secret Santa so you only buy one present each within the spending limit (maybe keep the kids out of this though!).

Check for offers

Once you’ve decided on a gift check online and in the high street to make sure you’re getting the best price.

Make use of your loyalty

If you’ve been collecting loyalty points through retailers it’s worth investigating what you’re able to trade them in for.

What's in the cupboard?

Check to see if there are any unwanted gifts that need re-gifting and whether you have any wrapping paper and cards leftover from last year.

Get crafty

You could save by creating your own homemade gifts. Baking a batch of biscuits and recycling a Pringles can to put them in is one quick idea (don’t forget to decorate the can!).
